This bulletin applies to 2015-2018 Subaru Legacy, Outback and WRX vehicles. A design change has been made to the EPB (electric parking brake) adapter cord harness connector. In some cases, the retaining tab of the connector may become damaged as a result of removal or installation for diagnosis, causing DTC C1956 or C1957 to set and the parking brake warning lamp to illuminate. The retaining tab portion of the connector has been changed to improve its durability and to prevent the recurrence of the DTC.

The new EPB adapter cord has been incorporated into production as follows:

Legacy starting with VIN J3023615; Outback starting with VIN J3269586; and WRX starting with VIN J9822750.
