This bulletin applies to 2015-2016 Audi A8 vehicles equipped with a 3.0L TFSI EVO engine. DTC P164D00 (oil pressure switch for reduced oil pressure malfunction) may be stored in the ECM. One or both of the following warnings may be displayed: the red oil pressure warning light and/or an oil warning “shut vehicle off”.

The rubber oil drain plug within the oil filter housing is likely out of position or has insufficient pre-tension. An improved rubber plug P/N 06E115475 and spring P/N 06E115489 is now available.

Before proceeding, confirm the condition:

- If the red oil pressure light is NOT on and the DTC cannot be reproduced, replace the rubber plug and spring.

- If the red oil pressure warning light IS on, and the DTC can be reproduced, perform an oil pressure test as instructed by GFF (with engine oil temperature at 80 degrees C/176 degrees F)

- If oil pressure is above 0.7 bar after testing, replace the rubber plug and spring, then re-check oil pressure. The oil pressure must be above 1.4 bar at idle.
