This bulletin applies to 2014-2017 Jeep Cherokee vehicles built on or before Sept.12, 2016, and equipped with Jeep Active Drive with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle may exhibit lateral vibration at the front end during low speed acceleration (lateral wiggle, wobble, shake, shimmy, shudder type vibration), typically between 10-20 mph.
1. Inspect the front axle shafts to identify which type is currently installed (straight diameter center shaft or stepped diameter center shaft). If stepped diameter shafts are present, this bulletin does not apply. Continue with diagnostics. If straight diameter center shafts are present, replace with stepped shafts using left shaft P/N 68299151AA and right shaft P/N 68299152AA. You’ll also need two axle hub nuts 06509898AA and two lower ball joint stud nuts 06507676AA. Do not re-use the old nuts.
