Working on a BMW equipped with an 8HP transmission? You’ll need the 8HP transmission support plate when removing or installing the transmission. The special tool is available as P/N 83 30 5 ACE400. The cost is about $216. Due to the unique design, the support plate does not contact that plastic oil pan, preventing deformation and possible cracking during transmission service.
The support plate prevents potential damage to the plastic oil pan.
