Some owners of 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe vehicles may note a slight creak or popping noise from the front of the vehicle when accelerating from a stop, either in forward or reverse gear. A replacement of the drive shaft washers with revised washers may be required. The revised washers are available as P/N 51755-2B020-FFF.
1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist and remove the front wheels.
2. Remove the front wheel speed sensors.
3. Remove the brake caliper.
4. Suspend the caliper to eliminate stress on the brake lines.
5. Remove the hub split pin, nut and washer.
6. Remove the lower strut mounting bolts.
7. Separate the driveshaft and knuckle assembly.
8. Remove and discard the plastic washer from the front axle hub.
9. Install the revised new driveshaft washer.
10. Reinstall all parts except for the wheel. Repeat this for the opposite side axle.
11. Install wheels and check front wheel alignment.
