When a Chevy Won't Hold in Park

Some owners of 2014 Chevy Express vehicles may comment that the vehicle will not hold after the shift lever was placed in the Park position or that the vehicle rolled after the shift lever was placed in the Park position and the brake pedal released.

Some owners of 2014 Chevy Express vehicles may comment that the vehicle will not hold after the shift lever was placed in the Park position or that the vehicle rolled after the shift lever was placed in the Park position and the brake pedal released.

Inspect the shift cable for proper adjustment and attachment to the range selector lever. Remove the transmission oil pan and inspect for debris in the pan or obvious signs of damage.

Inspect the manual shaft detent lever assembly and park pawl actuator assembly for damage. Inspect the park gear for damage or peening of teeth. Inspect the park pawl and park pawl spring for damage. If no damage was found during inspection and the cause was not found, replace the park pawl actuator assembly.

Note: the park pawl and park pawl spring are not serviced separately and the case must be replaced.
