Tightening Harness Connector on Subaru

You may encounter a 2019 Subaru Forester where the driver monitoring system (DMS) is inoperative. DTC U0156 for lost communication may be stored in multiple modules. The seat memory feature may also be not working. The root cause may be a loose harness connector located behind the exterior trim cover on the driver’s door mirror assembly.

With e covers removed, access to the connector is made easier by removing the turn signal lamp from the mirror housing. Make sure that the connector is fully locked in place. When removing the covers, remove the lower cover first. During reassembly, install the upper cover first.
