Check Gear Oil Pump for Audi Rattle

On 2017 Audi A4, A5 and A6 vehicles, a rattling noise may be heard from under the vehicle. The noise may be traced to the transmission gear oil pump.

1) Transmission fluid pump B. 2) Connector. When replacing the pump also replace all four mounting bolts.

On 2017 Audi A4, A5 and A6 vehicles, a rattling noise may be heard from under the vehicle. The noise may be traced to the transmission gear oil pump.

One of the following DTCs may also be present in the TCM:

U28A00........lost communication with transmission fluid pump module B

P27A600......electric/auxiliary transmission fluid pump B stuck on

P276B00......electric/auxiliary transmission fluid pump B motor supply voltage circuit low

P27A300.....electric/auxiliary transmission fluid pump B performance/stuck off

If the gear oil pump V553 is confirmed to be the source of the noise, replace the pump and the bolts for the pump. When removing the pump, disconnect the connector only after the transmission fluid drains out to avoid gear oil contamination of the electrical connector.
