Diagnosing a Noisy Ram Belt

This bulletin applies to 2009-2013 Ram 1500, 2009-2013 2500, 2009 3500, and 2013 3500 trucks equipped with a 5.7L engine and built on or before Nov. 20, 2012. The customer may experience a belt chirp noise from the engine compartment.

This bulletin applies to 2009-2013 Ram 1500, 2009-2013 2500, 2009 3500, and 2013 3500 trucks equipped with a 5.7L engine and built on or before Nov. 20, 2012. The customer may experience a belt chirp noise from the engine compartment.

Remove the serpentine belt and operate the engine with the belt removed for no more than 15 seconds. If the noise was eliminated, visually inspect all accessory drive pulleys for damage/debris/corrosion. Replace as needed. Install the revised serpentine belt P/N 68204819AA, which is able to compensate for slight pulley misalignment. Verify that the noise has been eliminated.
