Misfiring Mazda

Some 2011 Mazda Tribute vehicles equipped with the 3.0L engine, and with a build date of Dec. 21, 2010, to Jan. 7, 2011, may exhibit a misfire or rough-running condition, or a MIL with DTC P0301 (cylinder 1 misfire detected).

Determine right hand cylinder head manufacturing time and date. An ink ket stamp is located on the intake face of the RH cylinder head, under the upper intake manifold. This can be viewed by looking over the front engine mount. The stamp will read FFV80 HH:MM MMDDYY. Verify that the cylinder head indicates 14:30 12/21/2010 to 14:00 1/7/2011. If so, replace the right hand cylinder head.
