This bulletin applies to 2016-2017 Acura MDX vehicles equipped with a 3.5L engine. Acura notes that they have had reports of reduced engine power with the MIL on (DTC P0369...CMP sensor circuit intermittent interruption) and signs of excessive camshaft end play.
Acura says that they have found that the camshaft thrust cover surface roughness is out of spec. To reduce end play, some techs are replacing the camshaft thrust cover. But eventually the camshaft will just machine the thrust cover again, resulting in excessive end play.
Acura recommends replacing the affected camshaft and camshaft thrust cover together, along with the damaged CMP sensor. Be sure to check for damage to the camshaft pulley. If damaged, replace it.
