Fuel pump squeak
Owners of 2005-2006 Nissan Pathfinder, Xterra or Frontier vehicles may complain about a squeaking noise when driving over bumps or when the fuel tank is one-half full or less. The noise may be coming from the inside of the fuel tank and may occur after driving for about 30 minutes.
- Make sure that the spare tire is secured and is not the source of the squeak.
- Replace the fuel pump and seal.
- Test drive to verify that the noise is gone.
The replacement fuel pump is available as P/N 17040-ZP00A. The required seal packing (fuel pump to tank seal) is P/N 17342-EA000. Note: DO NOT use seal packing P/N 17040-EA000.
