This TSB provides important service information to properly seal the cylinder head cover when any service has been performed that requires cover removal. Applicable vehicles include 2007-20120 Hyundai Santa Fe 3.3/3.5L, 2007-2012 Veracruz, 2006-2011 Azera, 2006-2010 Sonata 3.3L and 2006-2008 Entourage.
Prior to any reassembly work, thoroughly clean the top of the cylinder head and the timing chain cover at the mating surface. Use a gasket scraper to remove any old RTV liquid gasket residue where the timing chain cover meets the cylinder head at the deck.
Apply Hyundai Gray RTV P/N 00232-19039 or equivalent sealant in the two upper spots where the timing chain cover meets the cylinder head. Apply a sufficient bead of RTV sealant at a width of approximately 2.5mm. Within 5 minutes after applying the RTV sealant, install the cylinder head cover, using a new cylinder head cover gasket.
Note: Wait at least 30 minutes before adding oil and/or starting the engine.
