Toyota squeal when cold

Some 2005-2010 Toyota Tacoma vehicles may exhibit a squeal noise from the blower motor when set to low speed during low ambient temperatures.

Some 2005-2010 Toyota Tacoma vehicles may exhibit a squeal noise from the blower motor when set to low speed during low ambient temperatures.

A newly designed blower motor has been made available to improve this condition. This TSB applies to all 2005-2009 Tacomas and 2010 Tacomas built before the production change effective VINs shown below:

REPAIR PROCEDURE

  1. Disconnect the cable fro the negative battery terminal
  2. Disconnect the two clips and the blower motor two-pin connector as shown in Figure 1.
  3. Remove the three bolts and remove the blower motor as shown in Figure 2.
  4. Install the new blower motor and the three3 bolts.
  5. Connect the two-pin blower motor connector and the two clips.
  6. Connect the battery negative cable.
  7. Confirm that the blower motor squeal is no longer present.
