This may be caused by the incorrect strut mounting brackets installed on the vehicle. Check on the liftgate mounting brackets for a letter P or M stamping. P indicates that the bracket is for a power liftgate system and M indicates that the bracket is for a manual liftgate. If manual strut brackets are found on a vehicle that is equipped with a power system, replace with the correct brackets.
