Honda now offers a “Rodent Deterrent Tape” for wiring harness repairs where wires have been chewed by a mouse, chipmunk, etc. The new tape, P/N 4019-2317, contains capsaicin, the material found in “five-alarm chili,” which should deter future chewing issues. The tape is available in rolls.

When wrapping the harness, employ a “half-wrapping” method. Each time you wrap the tape around the harness, overlap the previous layer by half the width of the tape. It’s best to wear latex gloves when handling, and don’t rub your eyes when your fingers have made contact with the tape.
