Some 2011-2013 Mazda6 models equipped with the 2.5L engine with VINs lower than 1YVHZ****D5M07793, produced before June 18, 2012, may experience a MIL on with DTC P0600:00 (serial communication link) stored in memory. As a result, the customer may also notice a loss of engine power while driving due to engine fail-safe mode initiation.
The MIL illumination may be cleared by disconnecting the negative battery cable, however, the DTC P0600:00 remains stored in memory. The concern may be caused by improper PCM control logic of PCM, which has been changed.
1. Verify the concern.
2. Replace the PCM with the updated PCM. PCM replacement requires MASH authorization prior to repair. Contact MASH at (888) 832-8477, option 2, to obtain authorization.
3. After PCM replacement, perform the following:
- PCM configuration (manual section 01-14 PCM CONFIGURATION [MZR 2.5]).
- Immobilizer system component replacement / key addition and clearing (section 09-14).
4. Verify the repair.
