2018 PTEN Aftermarket Profile

May 14, 2018
PTEN presents the results of its third annual purchasing study to provide an outlook of aftermarket shops' spending plans in the coming years.

The proper tools and equipment are essential to running a successful business and completing quality repair and maintenance jobs. The products you use every day probably include a mix of trusted and time tested favorites as well as new products that are under constant scrutiny and review. The ever-growing number of diagnostic tools in shops continue to revolutionize the profession.

While the tools and equipment you use are important, it’s actually a combination of factors that work together to bring about progress and ensure the future success of automotive repair facilities — things like continued education and training for technicians, and changing revenue opportunities.

At Professional Tool & Equipment News (PTEN), we strive to give you the best and most up-to-date information and data about the industry, so you can stay competitive in your business.

For the third year in a row, we surveyed nearly 450 technicians and shop owners. We took the results of this annual purchasing study, which provides a high-level overview of the tool and equipment segment of the automotive aftermarket, and compiled the 2018 Aftermarket Profile. This market overview provides insights not only about your automotive repair business, but the industry as a whole.

While we cannot talk to every technician or shop owner in the market, our hope is that the trending data collected from this purchasing study lays the foundation that will help you to better understand the changes in your business, as well as identify where the industry is headed in the coming year.
