Milwaukee Tool will use its MEDCO training session to give distributors a closer look at several new additions to its automotive lineup, with an emphasis on cordless solutions designed to help technicians improve productivity and mobility in the shop.
Justin Tewey, national accounts manager at Milwaukee Tool, says the session will highlight products including the M18 FUEL STRIKER Hammer Chisel, M18 FUEL Grease Gun, two M18 FUEL 3/4" High Torque Impact Wrenches, SHOCKWAVE Impact Duty sockets and bit sockets, and a 44-pc 1/4" Hex Drive Mini Flex Head Ratchet & Bit Set.
The additions are part of Milwaukee's continued investment in solutions aimed at helping technicians work more efficiently while reducing their reliance on traditional pneumatic tools. The company is also continuing to expand its focus within the automotive industry, including both maintenance and collision repair applications.
“What we’re doing in the transportation space at Milwaukee Tool is continuing to innovate with new products and really increase the productivity and the safety of the technician, both in the paint and body and the automotive technician space, without sacrificing performance,” Tewey says.
Moving more applications to cordless
One of the main focuses of the training will be how cordless tools can take on applications traditionally handled by pneumatic equipment.
The M18 FUEL STRIKER Hammer Chisel is one example. Milwaukee describes it as the world's first cordless hammer chisel and says eliminating compressor hoses can provide technicians with greater mobility while removing an obstacle from the work area.
For distributors, understanding that transition can help when discussing the products with technicians. Customers considering moving away from pneumatic tools may have questions about runtime, performance, battery selection, and how a cordless alternative will fit into their existing workflow.
“For these individuals, time is money, and a solution that can help them complete that work faster is going to be very valuable to them," says Ian Thorne, assistant brand manager for Milwaukee Tool.
The Hammer Chisel may also create an additional sales opportunity for distributors. Beyond the tool itself, Milwaukee sees the product as an opportunity for battery, accessory, and broader system adoption as technicians consider cordless alternatives for more applications.
Getting hands-on with the tools
Rather than only discussing specifications and applications, MEDCO attendees will have an opportunity to see each featured product demonstrated during the training session. Hands-on portions of the training will also allow attendees to use the tools and get a better understanding of their performance, applications, and key benefits.
That product knowledge can be especially useful when distributors return to their customers and need to explain where a new tool fits, how it differs from an existing solution, and which technicians or applications could benefit from it.
Ultimately, Milwaukee wants attendees to leave the session with a better understanding of how its latest products fit into automotive workflows and how the company is continuing to develop cordless solutions for technicians.
