Pilot Flying J's Road Warrior program returns

Oct. 12, 2017
The Road Warrior program is a contest that honors professional drivers who "go the extra mile" to ensure that goods are delivered safely, securely and on time.

Now in its fourth year, Pilot Flying J announced the return of its annual Road Warrior program, a contest that honors professional drivers who go the extra mile to ensure that products and goods are delivered safely, securely and on time to keep the country moving efficiently.

From now through Dec. 31, 2017, the Road Warrior program will recognize the "heroes on the road" by encouraging online story submissions, spotlighting professional drivers' hard work, perseverance and passion for the trucking industry for a chance to win cash prizes.

"Anyone with a professional driver in their life knows the job is not for the faint of heart. It takes smarts, selflessness and a special kind of work ethic to transport the country and make our ways of life possible," said Ken Parent, president of Pilot Flying J. "The Road Warrior program is designed to raise awareness for the tireless and critical work of professional drivers and thank them for a job well done."

Professional drivers are often the unsung heroes of America, transporting everything from gasoline, medicine and vehicles, to dairy, produce and flowers – thus tackling one of the most challenging and important jobs in this country. Through hard work and dedication, more than 3.5 million professional drivers deliver goods each day to our smallest towns and biggest cities, making sure all is safe along the way.

To enter, visit RoadWarrior.PilotFlyingJ.com, tell the story of the professional driver in your life who inspires you and upload their photo. Anyone can nominate a Road Warrior, including coworkers, friends and family members, or professional drivers can even nominate themselves.

The 2017 grand prize Road Warrior winner will receive $10,000, and second and third place winners will receive $5,000 and $2,500, respectively. New to this year's program, nominators of the grand, second and third place winners will also receive a $500 prize.

Jacqueline Rocha a long haul driver who joined the professional driving community just after turning 21, was named the 2016 Road Warrior winner. Rocha was recognized by Pilot Flying J for being an advocate of the industry, encouraging millennials and females to consider careers in trucking. As she continues her career, Rocha hopes to start a nonprofit organization that funds the costs associated with commercial driver's license school, particularly aimed at recruiting young women to the industry. Rocha represents the first woman Road Warrior contest winner.
