Bendix is incorporating technologies from key suppliers such as TRW and Mobileye.

Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC, the North American leader in the development and manufacture of leading-edge active safety and braking system technologies, announced that its next-generation commercial vehicle safety system is in full development with key supplier partners.

Continuing on its aggressive schedule to develop, test, and launch its new safety system, Bendix is incorporating technologies from key suppliers such as TRW and Mobileye. The new safety system – which will be available exclusively through major truck OEMs – will dramatically enhance key features of existing driver assistance systems such as collision mitigation. It will also offer a host of new features never before possible for commercial vehicles in North America.

According to TJ Thomas, Bendix director of marketing and customer solutions, "Our current safety systems deliver outstanding performance, but customers can expect additional enhancements in vehicle identification and fixed-object accuracy from the new system that can automatically apply brakes based on combined radar-vision input."

The vision aspect of the next-generation Bendix safety system will utilize a TRW camera that has been adapted for use by Bendix. The camera is powered by the Mobileye System-on-Chip EyeQ2 processor with state-of-the-art vision algorithms.

"Our new system will once again raise the bar for functionality, safety, ROI, and driver acceptance for fleets," Thomas said. "Current radar-based safety systems, like Bendix Wingman Advanced – A Collision Mitigation Technology, offer exceptional ROI for fleet customers. Our next-generation technology makes a highly effective solution even stronger."
