EcoPower oil receives dexos1 license

First engine oil recycled and refined from reclaimed oil to meet dexos1 specifications.

EcoPower, the engine oil that provides superior protection for engines as well as the environment, has become the first re-refined engine oil to meet the GM dexos1 specification.  dexos is a global engine oil specification designed by GM Powertrain engineers to increase fuel efficiency, extend the life of emissions systems and produce fewer emissions in GM vehicles.

The EcoPower dexos1 Synthetic Blend  5W-30 oil protects engines as well as the environment, while meeting dexos1 license requirements. EcoPower uses up to 85 percent less energy to produce than oil made from virgin crude. And it reduces dependency on foreign crude.

Every company involved in the production and sale of dexos1 product must be licensed, facility-accredited and undergo rigorous product testing prior to final licensing.  Licensed brand names are registered, published and routinely sampled through each step in the fluid's progress, from license to commercialization.

"Meeting GM's standards for dexos1 is yet another proof point that illustrates the extremely high quality of EcoPower engine oil," said Curt Knapp, senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Safety-Kleen.  "EcoPower also provides cost efficiencies, as it meets the dexos1 requirements while being made mostly of Group II base oil, instead of more costly Group III base stock."

General Motors developed the dexos oil certification as part of its commitment to designing and building cars that perform well and last a long time.  A critical component of performance, longevity and environmental sensitivity is the quality of the oil that goes into the car.  dexos1 licensed engine oil provides the following benefits to GM vehicles:  improved viscometric properties, creating less friction in the engine which contributes to improved fuel economy; resists aeration, enabling fuel-saving devices such as Variable Valve Timing to work optimally; improved oxidation and deposit-forming tendencies that allow emission systems to operate longer and optimally; and resists degradation between oil changes, extending the time and mileage interval between oil changes.

EcoPower is more than just an engine oil.  It's part of a much bigger effort by Safety-Kleen, the largest collector and refiner of reclaimed engine oil in North America.  The company reclaims over 200 million gallons of used oil a year from over 115,000 locations.  That oil is then refined using a process than requires up to 85 percent less energy to produce.  EcoPower doesn't just conserve resources; it keeps used motor oil out of our land and ground water, making it truly an oil change for the better.

EcoPower dexos1 Synthetic Blend 5W-30 is available in bulk, drums and five-quart jugs.
