Ford recalls over 450,000 trucks over inoperative windshield wipers

Ford is recalling certain 2021-2022 F-150 pickups.

Ford is recalling certain 2021-2022 F-150 pickups due to windshield wiper motor may fail.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the front windshield wiper motor may become inoperative, causing the wipers to fail. Inoperative windshield wipers can reduce visibility in certain conditions therefore increasing the risk of a crash.

To remedy the situation, dealers will replace the front windshield wiper motor at no charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 3, 2023.

Owners may contact Ford customer service by calling 1-866-436-7332. The recall number is 22S71.

This recall expands previous recall number 22V-142, NHTSA noted. 

To check to see if your vehicle has an open recall, visit NHTSA's website and enter the vehicle's 17-digit vehicle identification number.
