AASA announces Automotive Aftermarket Summit 2017 in Shanghai

The Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association and its China Aftermarket Forum will present the Automotive Aftermarket Summit 2017 with Messe Frankfurt Nov. 30 during Automechanika Shanghai.

The Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) and its China Aftermarket Forum (CAF) will present the Automotive Aftermarket Summit 2017, an afternoon of thought leadership and analysis of the China aftermarket, in conjunction with Messe Frankfurt on Thursday, Nov. 30 during Automechanika Shanghai.

“Top executives from key global suppliers, such as Hella, Gates and MAHLE, are providing their views at the Summit,” said Bill Long, president and chief operating officer of AASA. “Through this annual Summit and the activities of CAF throughout the year, AASA is committed to advancing its supplier members’ global business interests in China’s growing aftermarket.” AASA is the light vehicle aftermarket division of the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA)

“The China aftermarket is seeing tremendous growth. Given increasing vehicles in operation, the Chinese aftermarket is expected to have growth rates 2-4 times that of the new vehicle sector over the next couple of decades,” said Paul McCarthy, MEMA senior vice president and AASA executive vice president. “AASA is working to assist our supplier members in shaping a Chinese repair market that has choice and is high-quality. Our global supplier members bring their international market expertise along with proven quality products and innovation for Chinese consumers.”

Dr. Yilong Chen, managing director of MEMA/AASA China Center will serve as the master of ceremonies for the Summit, set for 1:30-4:30 p.m., in the National Exhibition & Convention Center (NECC). Paul McCarthy will present the opening keynote address, “China Aftermarket: Opportunity, Global Perspectives and Insights from AASA’s China Aftermarket Forum (CAF).” Henry Lu of IHS Automotive Beijing Polk-CATARC will address “Automotive Trends and Insights Impacting the China Aftermarket.”

The agenda also includes two panel discussions and an Industry Leaders Roundtable. Zhuang Chen, vice president of kzmall.cn will moderate the discussion, “The E-business Development in Automotive Aftermarket - Online vs. Offline vs. O2O and How to Win” with panelists Zhou Bo, COO of Meineke Car Care Auto Center; Sun Tie Jun, vice president of All-Drive Union; Fu Xue Feng, business development manager of Michelin (China) Investment Co.; and Zeng Wan Gui, CEO of Batulu. The discussion “Talent Recruitment and Management in China Automotive Aftermarket” features Patrick Gong, consulting director of Mercer Human Resource Consulting, as moderator and panelists: Philippe Thegner, general manager of Hella Trading (Shanghai) Co.; Shang Bao Guo, president of Carzone; Zhou Yin, vice president of Harson; Wang Zheng, operational vice president of kzmall.cn; Ye Bin, franchise development manager of Michelin (China) Investment Co.; and Kelly Xu, director of HRBP in Nielsen.

The Industry Leaders Roundtable will address, “How the Chinese Aftermarket is Transforming and Emerging Opportunities.” Bill Russo, founder and CEO of Automobility is the moderator and panelists are: Philippe Thegner, general manager of Hella Trading (Shanghai) Co.; Frank Nieuwenhuys, vice president automotive aftermarket, Asia Pacific of Gates; Chen Hong Mei, general manager, aftermarket of Mahle Trading (Shanghai); and Matthias Morits, managing director Asia of TecAlliance China.

The Summit’s location in the NECC will allow participants easy access to Automechanika Shanghai. AASA is partnering with Messe Frankfurt on the event; Summit sponsors are SINCOMACCHINT and TecAlliance.
