Tenneco introduces Monroe OESpectrum shock to European market
In Germany this week during Automechanika Frankfurt, Tenneco introduced a comprehensive offer of advanced-technology replacement shock absorbers, including its premium product line of Monroe® OESpectrum® shocks.
Speaking to Aftermarket Business World at the Tenneco booth, Phillip Lutz, Product Manager based out of South Africa, said the technology behind the shock enables it to carry a five-year product quality and performance limited warranty.
The R-TECH technology utilizes two sets of precisely calibrated disks separated by an eccentric “helical disk” to eliminate unwanted, abrupt changes in damping force. The more precise transition between damping control phases helps ensure more consistent control characteristics across a broader range of driving situations and conditions.
“If someone goes through an extreme bump, a full compression of the shock, it can actually damage the valving inside a shock,” said Lutz. “This technology slows the piston down before it goes to full extension. It not only offers a smoother ride, but it protects the shock from damage.”
Other enhancements featured in Monroe OESpectrum units are premium chrome plating on the piston rod; a new, advanced-design oil seal; internal coil spring rebound stop on many units; new, closed anti-friction PTFE piston band; and premium semi-synthetic oil formulation.
