(October 30, 2007) Removing the heavy steel clutch fan from your 2003- '08 Cummins diesel equipped Dodge Ram, sounds like a strange way to make more horsepower and torque. Yet, Flex-A-Lite's testing indicates that significant performance can be gained by reducing the load on the engine and at the same time improve the cooling system for better towing performance and better fuel economy. Flex-A-Lite is showing just how this works at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Flex-A Lite's new fan system #264 for the Dodge Ram, maximizes the engine's cooling capacity by first replacing the heavy clutch fan with two 15-inch diameter, high-performance, reliable S-Blade fans. These fans are manufactured from Flex-A-Lite's unique injection molded, glass reinforced nylon, making them strong, yet flexible enough to withstand extreme vibration and heat. When combined with a low-profile brushed aluminum fan shroud that also houses the factory overflow tank and coolant reservoir, the system provides improved cooling while dramatically reducing engine load.

In addition, Flex-A-Lite's #264 fan system comes with the company's VSC, Variable Speed Control module that that monitors coolant temperature and adjusts fan speed to match cooling demand. The system is also a direct replacement for the factory fan and shroud and requires no drilling and bolts onto the factory locations. This system is not recommended when the combined gross vehicle weight exceeds 18,000 pounds.
