This Week's Recalls Oct. 2–9

A park-outside fire warning for 94,622 Hyundai Genesis and Genesis G80 vehicles leads the week, with a Toyota RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid power-loss fault and an S-Class brake hose recall close behind.

Hyundai Motor America

Hyundai Motor America is recalling 94,622 vehicles: model year 2015–2016 Hyundai Genesis and 2017–2020 Genesis G80 vehicles. The front power seat motors may overheat due to a stuck power seat control switch, which can result in a fire while the vehicle is parked or being driven.

A fire increases the risk of injury. Owners are advised to park their vehicles outdoors and away from other vehicles or structures until the repair has been performed.

The remedy is currently under development.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 7, 2026. Hyundai owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460; Genesis owners may contact Genesis customer service at 844-340-9741. Hyundai's number for this recall is 308 and Genesis' number is 035G. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved became searchable on NHTSA.gov on October 13, 2026.

Toyota

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing is recalling 30,978 model year 2026 RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid vehicles. The motor generator electronic control unit (ECU) may encounter an error, causing the plug-in hybrid system to reduce power or shut down when the vehicle is driven at higher speeds.

An unexpected powertrain shutdown can cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.

Dealers will update the ECU software, free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed starting November 22, 2026. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331 and reference recall number 26TA22.

When the tire repair kit is used, pressure may build within the sealant bottle, causing the bottle cap to detach.
