See who won the March Federated ASE Question of the Month contest
Congratulations to our March ASE Question of the Month winner, Ron Paris, of Tom’s Tire and Service Center in Hillsboro, Texas!
Each month, we post an ASE-style question for fun and our good friends at Federated Auto Parts make it fun to participate. Whether you get the answer right or not, you have the option to include your name in our monthly random prize drawing. The selected winner receives a collectible diecast from Federated.
March's question was an easy one.
All of the following statements are true EXCEPT:
A. The CALC LOAD PID is a measure of how much work the engine is doing.
B. Global OBD II scan tool functions are standardized.
C. Data PIDs in Global OBD II are accurate representations of sensor data.
D. Global OBD II Mode $09 is where you will find the vehicle VIN (as recorded in the ECM) and ECM calibration information.
You were correct if you answered A. The CALC LOAD Parameter Identifier (PID) can give you the idea of how hard the engine is working but it is not a measure of that work. It is, instead, a calculated figure representing the volumetric efficiency of the engine.
