Permatex, Inc. has just added a new and innovative gasketing sealant to its line of gasket makers and sealants. Permatex PermaShield Gasket Dressing and Flange Sealant is specially designed to provide superior fluid resistance and also withstand extreme temperature changes without hardening. Its non-setting, non-hardening gel formulation stays tacky, allowing for easy parts removal and repositioning without the need for reapplication.

PermaShield is ideal in high performance and high vibration applications because it seals surface imperfections between metal parts. With an operating temperature range of -60 °F to 500 °F (-50 °C to 260 °C), this advanced polyester urethane compound resists common engine fluids, including oil, gasoline, ethanol, water, and anti-freeze. It also prevents contamination from moisture and dust.

In comparative testing, PermaShield clearly outperformed the leading competitor. Both sealants were submerged in antifreeze for 24 hours at 158 °F (70 °C). Unlike the competitor, PermaShield stayed intact.

Packaged in a 2 fl. oz. tube, PermaShield is ideal for applications such as: axle assemblies, hydraulic parts, differential covers, fuel injectors and pumps, oil pans (cast), head gaskets, water pumps, bearing caps/brackets, gearboxes, hydraulic drives/motors, torque converters, timing cases, and intake manifolds.
