STRONGSVILLE, Ohio - Doug Beuke, Compliant Segment Manager, PPG Automotive Refinish, reports the following on PPG's effort to transition shops to waterborne products:

The transition to PPG's waterborne systems in North America has been well received. With over 100 new shops converting to waterborne per month, the key is still to have a very fluid and robust training process; which allows customers comfort and confidence when making the change to water. We average three training sessions per week at our Los Angeles training center and will begin the same process in our new training facility in Northern California scheduled to open in Spring 2008. Once trained, shops begin using the new waterborne system the next day. This process has been very effective in allowing most shops to get back to productivity levels within a day or so. In fact, some shops have reported increases in productivity shortly after making the move to waterborne. What has been the biggest win that our customers are reporting? It definitely has to be the excellent color match.
