Meritor WABCO, a leader in advanced safety systems for the commercial vehicle industry, announced that its anti-lock braking system (ABS) is now standard equipment on all International ProStar+ and LoneStar Class 8 trucks. These vehicles from Navistar Inc. will now add to the more than seven million Meritor WABCO ABS systems on the road today.

Meritor WABCO led the introduction of ABS to the commercial vehicle industry in North America, marking the turning point from passive to active safety. Since that time they've built on their innovation legacy not only with technology improvements to ABS, but in the continued development of advanced safety systems including first-to-market with stability control and collision safety systems.

"ABS really led the way to huge advances in safety technology in the commercial vehicle market," said Jon Morrison, president and general manager, Meritor WABCO. "With that system as a reliable, durable foundation, OE's have the opportunity to look at fully integrated safety systems that not only decrease the risk of accidents, but also lower overall vehicle operating costs through reduced vehicle downtime and risk reduction."

The inclusion of Meritor WABCO ABS on these two International trucks allows for other optional safety-related products including automatic traction control (ATC), rollover stability control (RSC), electronic stability control (ESC) and the industry-leading OnGuard collision safety system.

Effective immediately, customers of International ProStar+ and LoneStar Class 8 trucks will see the code 04AZE in the Navistar databook for this item.
