Freightliner Trucks has announced that the Eaton UltraShift PLUS Vocational series automated transmission is now available for the Freightliner 114SD equipped with the Detroit DD13 engine, and the Coronado SD with up to 600hp/2050lb.ft. torque.

The UltraShift PLUS Vocational series of automated transmissions are well-suited for low-speed maneuverability. Through extended low and reverse gear ratio coverage, the transmissions provides "the lowest ground speed for curbing, creeping, spreading, and paving," according to TJ Reed, Freightliner’s director of product marketing.

Designed with deep reduction and fast, flexible reverse gearing, the UltraShift PLUS is also well-suited for highway construction and dump operations. The patented shift logic and controls within every UltraShift PLUS constantly adapt based on changes in weight of load, grade and power, making adjustments to maximize efficiency.

"With options like the UltraShift PLUS Vocational series of transmissions, we provide our customers spec choices to ensure they can meet the demands of the toughest jobs," said Reed. "Strength, driveability, durability and flat out bottom line efficiency are the core of our SD Series of trucks. Freightliner Trucks continues to expand its SD Series of products to meet the demands of our vocational customers."

Additional features of the UltraShift PLUS Vocational series include Hill Start Aid, which prevents roll-back or roll-forward when launching on any grade; auto neutral, which automatically switches the transmission into neutral once the parking brake is engaged to prevent potential movement; automatic, manual, and low modes to keep the driver in control; and optional creep mode to maintain constant ground speed for low-speed control.

The UltraShift PLUS multipurpose and vocational series of automated transmissions are now available to order.
