Misfire for Ford Mustang

This bulletin is for some 2015 Ford Mustangs equipped with a 5.0L twin independent variable cam timing (Ti-VCT) engine and built on or before Dec. 5, 2014.

Some 2015 Ford Mustangs equipped with a 5.0L twin independent variable cam timing (Ti-VCT) engine and built on or before Dec. 5, 2014, might exhibit an illuminated MIL with a rough idle and DTCs P0300. P0301. P0302. P0303. P0304. P0305, P0306. P0307, P0308 and/or P0316 stored in the PCM. 

Connect the Ford integrated diagnostic system (IDS) tool or equivalent to the data link connector (DLC).

Obtain the misfire freeze frame data using IDS as follows:

Select toolbox

Data logger

Modules

PCM

Select the following PIDs:

MFF_RUNTIME

MFF_RPM

MFF_ENGINEOFFTIME

Does the misfire concern occur with MFF_RUN of 0-2 minutes, MFF_RPM between 600-700 RPM and MFF_SOAK time of less than twohours? If yes, proceed to Step 4. If no, proceed with normal diagnostics.

Reprogram the PCM to the latest calibration using IDS release 95.01 or higher.
