A scholarship fund for automotive repair students in California has been established with the ASC Educational Foundation (ASCEF) thanks to the generosity of Chapter 24, the San Diego chapter of the Automotive Service Councils of California (ASCCA).

Scholarships from this fund will be awarded to qualified California high school seniors who plan to enroll in post-high school technical/academic training, or California college undergraduates in the automotive service field who satisfy certain criteria. Chapter 24 has fully funded this scholarship fund to issue scholarships to students enrolled in Cuyamaca College, Southwestern College, Educational Culture Complex and Ramona High School.

“I am very impressed with Chapter 24’s spirit of benevolence. Such a sizeable contribution from a Chapter is inspiring. The availability of the new scholarship fund will be of great value to automotive

students,” said Mary Kemnitz, Chair of the ASCEF. “The ASCEF is excited to work with Chapter 24 to provide this wonderful opportunity for California students to pursue their educational goals in automotive repair,” Kemnitzsaid. “Chapter 24 ASCEF scholarships will open the door for many to enroll in one of our state’s degree or certificate programs and develop the knowledge, skill, and experience necessary to succeed in today’s workforce in this exciting field. The demand for skilled technicians in our industry is at an all time high and if we can bring just one more student into this field, then we have succeeded.”

ASCEF is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to supporting and advancing the entire automotive service industry. Governed by a code of ethics, the Foundation serves the industry through educational scholarships, endowments, training solutions and professional development. Since 1998 ASCCA has been awarding scholarships and formed the Educational Foundation in 2000.
