Blue Bird's bus donation allows kindness to continue

National organization One Million Acts of Kindness to carry on altruism

As the idiom states, one good turn deserves another.

Today at a special ceremony, Blue Bird Corporation recognized the many good deeds of the national organization, One Million Acts of Kindness, by presenting its founder the keys to a 24-foot long bus. It’s a badly needed upgrade from the used, 23-year-old bus the group purchased in 2009.
Blue Bird gave the freshly painted, road-ready bus to Bob Votruba and his loyal canine sidekick, Bogart. The donation will allow the charity to serve a greater geographic audience and continue to positively impact lives across the nation.

“Earlier this year, we heard from someone who Bob had recently assisted, asking if we would consider providing a bus so the organization could continue its mission,” said Phil Horlock, Blue Bird Corporation’s president and CEO. “After learning about Bob’s generous accomplishments, especially with schoolchildren, Blue Bird felt compelled to get involved.”

Through One Million Acts of Kindness, Votruba travels the country speaking to public schools, colleges, homeless shelters, hospitals, businesses and more, striving to inspire daily kindness, empathy, peace and generosity.

“I’ve spent my life trying to inspire kindness in others, but being on the receiving end of such kindness humbles me,” Votruba said, whose Twitter handle is KindnessRocks. “I’m eternally grateful to Blue Bird for this donation, which will help us expand our reach with reliable, fuel-efficient transportation.”
This project represents a collaboration between national and local businesses. Blue Bird’s paint supplier, PPG Industries, contributed the paint, and Mid State RV Center donated the talent for a custom paint job.

About One Million Acts of Kindness:

One Million Acts of Kindness is a goal. A goal for each person to individually perform One Million Acts Of Kindness in their life. As a father of three college age kids, I am concerned for the world in which all kids will live. So I bought a bus, had about sixty family members, friends and neighbors help paint it and began a ten year journey with my Boston Terrier, Bogart, to college campuses across the country hoping to convince as many of you as possible about this much needed movement for this world. We offer inspiration to those wanting to better themselves by leading a lifetime of constantly spreading kindness to others. Our goal is to reach out to children, teens and young adults when their minds are open and their personalities are developing. We hope to teach them kindness, empathy and a generosity for others.
