FMCSA head Anne Ferro steps down

News of her impending departure broke on Friday. In a letter sent to FMCSA employees, Ferro stated she will take over as president and CEO of the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators.

Anne S. Ferro will step down from her position as administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration next month.

News of her impending departure broke on Friday. In a letter sent to FMCSA employees, Ferro stated she will take over as president and CEO of the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators. The announcement came just hours after Ferro addressed expedite industry representatives at the annual Expedite Expo in Wilmington, Ohio.

According to a July 25 article in the Hillsboro Times Gazette, Ferro gave no indication of her plans to step down during her remarks at the event.

Ferro spent nearly five years in the role of FMCSA administrator, coming aboard in October of 2009. Prior to that, she served as president and CEO of the Maryland Motor Truck Association from 2003 to 2009 and was the State of Maryland's Motor Vehicle Administrator from 1997 to 2003.
