Sales, service and tech support for Bendix Vorad System

April 15, 2011
Now exclusively supported by Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems.

Customers seeking sales, service, or technical support for the Bendix VORAD (Vehicle On-Board Radar) system from Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC will now receive information exclusively through their Bendix account managers, Bendix SWAT team members, www.bendix.com, and the Bendix Tech Team members who offer service support via 1-800-AIR-BRAKE.

Bendix CVS, the leading manufacturer of advanced braking and safety solutions, purchased the VORAD system from Eaton Corporation at the close of 2009. For two years, the Eaton Roadranger marketing organization continued to provide VORAD system sales and support across the North American marketplace. The support agreement expired on Dec. 31, 2010. Effective Jan. 1, 2011, Bendix assumed full support for the Bendix VORAD sales and service program. The Roadranger website will no longer provide VORAD information.

Current VORAD users will continue to have 24/7/365 access to the full range of technical documentation at www.bendix.com. And, if needed, support and troubleshooting is just a phone call away with the opportunity to talk with one of the seasoned veterans who man the Bendix Tech Team call-in line at 1-800-AIR-BRAKE.

In addition, to their Bendix account manager, the Bendix SWAT team – the 100 percent ASE-certified Bendix Service, Warranty, and Training (SWAT) team experts – offer a level of expertise unmatched in the industry to support the full range of Bendix systems and components for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles. In addition, Bendix ACom has been updated to service the VS-400 products of the VORAD product line. See the Bendix website – www.bendix.com – for the most updated version of Bendix ACom.

The Bendix VORAD Collision Warning System is a radar-based collision warning system used by commercial vehicle original equipment manufacturers, major trucking fleets, and specialty vehicle manufacturers. It provides following distance alerts, collision alerts, and stationary object alerts to help drivers better understand that a situation has developed in front of the vehicle that may require immediate attention.

Along with warnings, Bendix VORAD, features Smartcruise technology. Bendix Smartcuise technology is a radar-based adaptive cruise control system (ACC) that can control the engine and retarder to help the driver maintain a set following distance when cruise control is set. Smartcruise, however, does not utilize brakes to help maintain the set following distance, while Bendix Wingman ACB – Active Cruise with Braking and Bendix Wingman Advanced do, Andersky said.

As part of the Bendix VORAD family, radar-based Bendix Blindspotter technology can also help warn the driver of objects to the side of the vehicle.
