The Auto Care Association is creating an International Trade Committee to serve as the principal advisory committee for Auto Care Association trade policy and trade promotion initiatives.

“As we significantly ramp up our international activities, we want to ensure that our initiatives are coordinated and directly address our members’ global objectives and priorities,” said Kathleen Schmatz, president and CEO, Auto Care Association. “We are committed to identifying and promoting business opportunities for our members globally, and this new committee will play a central role in identifying global opportunities and challenges for our staff to focus on.”

The International Trade Committee will advise the Auto Care Association on matters relating to trade policy and U.S. import/export trade in automotive products and services. The committee will be assigned to identify and examine specific problems that business, regulatory or policy practices may cause for import/export trade and recommend specific solutions to these problems. The committee will also advise on strategies for members to enter new foreign markets, and trade and export expansion policies impacting the auto care industry.

Individuals employed by Auto Care Association members involved in international trade, particularly trade policy and/or import/export trade are eligible to be considered to serve on the new committee. Committee members will be selected for a three-year term with a possible second three-year term reappointment. Candidates for the committee will be selected by the Auto Care Association’s chairman of the board, with input from the association’s staff. The committee will meet at least twice a year during Auto Care Association Leadership Days; additional meetings may be called.

The Auto Care Association will host an informational call for interested individuals on Thursday, July 23 at 12:30 p.m. EST. The committee will meet for the first time on Friday, Sept. 11 during the Fall Leadership Days meeting in Austin, Texas. Interested individuals should contact Andres Castrillon, senior counsel, international affairs, for more information and dial-in instructions for the informational call at [email protected].
