Ryan Kooiman, director of training at Standard Motor Products, talks about technician training and how long it takes to prep your own quality A tech on the aftermarket's only interview-based podcast.

Remarkable Results features weekly podcasts that aim to bring you fresh ideas that can inspire you to change or improve. There are two podcasts released each week — a service professional entrepreneur interview and an On-Point interview where the guest discusses a single subject that is industry related. The goal is to welcome successful service professional entrepreneurs to share their personal stories.

The podcasts are hosted by Carm Capriotto, a 35-year veteran of the automotive aftermarket industry.

Kooiman discusses his perspective on how many training hours techs need to have each year to keep current, and if you are working toward being an "A" tech, how long it will take with a strong training regiment.

Kooiman also discusses the value of classroom training beyond the instruction, a benefit that most techs agree with. Also learn how new training classes are selected and then evaluated to determine what makes it on the final training schedule.
