Crash Data Retrieval (CDR) Tool

Jan. 14, 2013

The Bosch Crash Data Retrieval (CDR) Tool complies with the NHTSA ruling allowing access to Event Data Recorder (EDR) information stored in Electronic Control Units (ECU) of cars, light trucks and SUVs. The CDR Tool is comprised of hardware and software that work together to image the EDR information stored in the safety system modules already installed in late model vehicles. The EDR information may also contain vital crash data if the vehicle has been involved in an accident.

Some of the data parameters reported are vehicle speed, brake status, injury severity, acceleration, seat belt status, occupant detection and many more. The EDR does not record video or audio and does not provide any GPS data or time/date status.

The CDR Tool currently supports more than 100 million registered vehicles including Ford, Chrysler, General Motors, Mazda, Toyota, Honda, Suzuki and Nissan cars, light trucks and SUVs. In light of the NHTSA ruling, this list is expected to continue growing.
