Inspecting Chevy Scraping Wheel Speed Sensor

Some 2017-2018 Chevy Camaro vehicles equipped with an LT4 engine and FE4 or FEA suspension may exhibit a clicking or scraping noise at the rear of the vehicles. You may find that the tip of the rear wheel speed sensor(s) may have come into contact with the slinger (deflector) of the rear halfshaft(s).

This noise may be present on either or both sides. Depending on how long the concern was present, you may find that the end of the sensor(s) may have actually worn down. The concern may have been caused by insufficient clearance between the rear wheel speed sensor(s) and the rear halfshaft slinger(s).

Remove and inspect the rear wheel speed sensors. If the tip(s) has been worn off, replace the sensor(s). If there is very little damage and the scraping noise has just started, the sensor(s) may be re-used. When installing the sensor(s) into the bore, shift the sensor towards the outside of the bore in order to provide slightly more clearance between the sensor tip and slinger.
