This bulletin applies to 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia vehicles. Customers may report a chattering from the front suspension.

The Giulia features a unique suspension featuring Alfa TM Link technology. The front double-wishbone with semi-virtual steering axle scheme allows an Ackerman angle change with the variation of the steering angle. Ackerman angle is described by the different steering angle between the left and right front wheels.

This feature, which is normally reserved for premium sports cars, has been the object of specific tuning by Alfa engineers to ensure the lowest vehicle understeer in any driving condition.

At the maximum steering wheel angle, the specific tuning makes the front suspension deliver a lower steering angle from right to left wheels, generating a perceivable dragging phenomenon on the inner wheel, which can be perceived as a “chattering” accompanied by some noise which is influenced by driving surfaces and air temperatures, tire pressures, tire specification, size and brand and/or steering angle and vehicle speed. According to Alfa, the perceived condition is no indication that there is an issue with the vehicle.
