This bulletin applies to 2011-2023 Nissan Leaf vehicles. Clicking noise may be heard from the front axle during take-off/acceleration.

First, check for wheel fastener torque. Once that is verified and the noise remains, the clicking noise may be coming from either side CV axles. Apply Molykote M77 grease (P/N 44003-7S000) to the hub bearing surfaces. Do not remove the axle from the hub or transmission.

Remove the wheel bearing cotter pin and lock nut from the axle. Push the axle back to allow grease application. Apply a moderate coat of Molykote to the entire wheel hub bearing surface. Reinstall the wheel bearing lock nut and cotter pin (using new lock nut and cotter pin). Be sure to install the washer P/N 40037-1CA0A before installing the new lock nut. For 2013 Leaf, tighten the lock nut to 89 ft-lb If over tightened, the clicking noise could occur. Refer to service manual specs for other model years. Also, if the original lock nut is installed, the noise could occur.
