Fixing Lincoln Burning Oil Smell

Some 2015-2016 Lincoln MKC vehicles equipped with a 2.3L GTDI engine and built on or before Feb. 23, 2016 may exhibit a heavy continuous blue smoke with a burning oil smell after idling 10 minutes or longer.

Check the part tag on the crankcase vent oil separator using a flashlight. Look through the opening to the right of the throttle body. If the part tag does not have a bar code, this bulletin does not apply. If the tag does have a bar code, this indicates that the vehicle is not equipped with a high flow crankcase oil separator system. Replace the crankcase vent oil separator.

Reprogram the PCM to the latest calibration using IDS release 101.01 or higher. The IDS tool will require a response to the following question: Is the vehicle equipped with G1FZ-6A785-A or later crankcase vent oil separator? Type YES. The PCM software will be updated for the high flow crankcase vent oil separator system. You will need the high flow crankcase vent oil separator G1FZ-6A785-A and intake gasket CJ5Z-9439-A.
