Attach Ford Door Post to Door Pivot Linkage

Some 2014-2018 Ford Taurus and Police Interceptor Sedan vehicles may exhibit a gearshift selector lever bezel door binding, skewed and/or not latching. This may be due to the door post becoming detached from the bezel door pivot linkage.
Some 2014-2018 Ford Taurus and Police Interceptor Sedan vehicles may exhibit a gearshift selector lever bezel door binding, skewed and/or not latching. This may be due to the door post becoming detached from the bezel door pivot linkage.

1. Inspect the door pivot pin and pivot pin linkage for damage. If damaged, replace the gearshift selector lever bezel. If not damaged, proceed to Step 2.

2. Gently pull up on the edge of the door and align with the linkage, then snap the pivot post into the pivot linkage and cycle the lid to verify proper operation. If operation is unsatisfactory, replace the bezel.

Tools required include a ¼-inch power tool, ¼-inch-drive ratchet, ¼-inch extension six-inches long, ¼-inch drive seven-mm socket and a plastic trim tool.
