Mercedes Shut Off Needs Software Update
This bulletin applies to 2014 Mercedes-Benz C300 4Matic vehicles equipped with a 3.5L engine. The engine may intermittently shut off when the vehicle is stopped for some time at a stop sign, traffic signal, etc. The vehicle is at a standstill at idle before the engine turns off. The engine can be restarted at any time with the ignition key or the keyless-go button. No-fault entries may be stored in the engine control module. The cause: the calculation model for mixture formation during EVAP regeneration function in certain conditions causes the engine to shut off. The remedy: Download the following AddOns for Xentry Diagnosis and update the software for the gasoline engine MED 17.7 control module:
For Xentry data release Jan. 2013: AddOn 2794
For Xentry data release March 2013: AddOn 2795
For Xentry data release May 2013 and higher: No AddOn is necessary.
Install all additional available AddOns before flashing. The software version after a successful flash will update to VC120.02. However, Xentry does not show digits past VC12. Change in the software numbers would indicate the update.
