Check for Short in Chevy Bolt Harness

If a 2017 Chevy Bolt EV vehicle can only operate at 32 mph and the MIL is on with DTC P2798, the problem may be damaged wire insulation. Don't automatically replace the fluid pump.

This bulletin applies to 2017 Chevy Bolt EV vehicles. The MIL may be on and the vehicle is only able to run at a maximum of 32 mph. The technician may find DTC P2798 set.

The condition may be caused by a damaged wire insulation causing a short to ground or corrosion in the command signal line of G5 transmission fluid pump harness. Do not replace the fluid pump for this condition until the wiring harness has been validated not to be the cause.

Inspect the cuts and/or corrosion.

Inspect the repair the G5 harness. Make sure the harness is routed properly and is not resting on any components. Remove the left front wheel well liner for access. Disconnect the transmission fluid pump electrical connector and inspect the harness for damage. Repair as needed.
