Quieting BMW Brake Tick

If a ticking noise is heard from the front wheel(s) while cornering without brake application at low speeds, microscopic movement of the contact interface between the inner brake disc and the wheel-bearing flange may be occurring (on vehicles equipped with lightweight disc brakes). Refer to the photo that shows an example of a lightweight disc.

If a ticking noise is heard from the front wheel(s) while cornering without brake application at low speeds, microscopic movement of the contact interface between the inner brake disc and the wheel-bearing flange may be occurring (on vehicles equipped with lightweight disc brakes). Refer to the photo that shows an example of a lightweight disc.

After removing the brake disc, clean the wheel bearing flange and disc hat mating surfaces and install the friction ring.

Remove both front brake discs and install a friction ring between the brake disc and the wheel bearing flange. Simple fix.
