Subaru changes diff plug gaskets

The rear differential filler and drain plug gasket has been changed from aluminum to steel. As a result, the torque specification has also changed. This applies to 2007 and later Legacy and Tribeca models equipped with the VA2-Type rear differential.

The rear differential filler and drain plug gasket has been changed from aluminum to steel. As a result, the torque specification has also changed. This applies to 2007 and later Legacy and Tribeca models equipped with the VA2-type rear differential.

The previous drain plug gasket was available as P/N 11126AA040. The new steel gasket is available as P/N 803918060. The gaskets (old or new) are not reusable and should always be replaced once removed.

The previous aluminum gasket requires the drain plug and fill plug to be tightened at 6.5 ft.-lb. The new steel gasket requires that the drain and fill plugs be tightened to a value of 11.2 ft.-lb.
