Audi: No place for spacer

This bulletin applies to 2007 Audi Cabriolet A4, S4 and RS4 vehicles. A multiple misfire condition may be experienced, with the MIL on and one or more of the following DTCs:

P0300…P0306………Random/multiple cylinder misfire detected

P0335………………..Crankshaft position sensor A (G28) circuit malfunction

P0336………………..Crankshaft position sensor A (G28) circuit range/performance

P0321………………..Ignition/distributor engine speed input circuit range/performance

P0322………………..Ignition/distributor engine speed input circuit – no signal

The condition may be caused by a spacer installed between the engine speed sensor and the gearbox.

1. Locate the engine speed sensor.

2. Remove the spacer from between the rpm sensor and the gearbox and discard the spacer.

3. Reinstall the rpm sensor, torquing the bolt to 10 Nm.

4. With VAS 5051 or VAS 5052 diagnostic tool connected, check the ECM for DTCs and for misfire detection in Measuring Value Blocks (MVB) 015 and 016.

5. Erase DTCs as necessary.
